St Patrick Day 2012 in Medellin

As I’m sure you’re aware, March 17th is Saint Patrick’s Day.  The world’s greatest day to drink excessive amounts of beer while wearing green.  All of this to celebrate a Catholic patron saint.  I may not agree with Catholicism, but there sure are some great excuses to party from it, especially in Colombia!  I guess the great parties make up for the Inquisition and Crusades.  All’s forgiven.

Here’s Doc and a local doing an Irish Jig.  Good times.   The Colombians know how to dance, but for some reason the Irish Jig hasn’t really gained much traction.

They may not be saints, but they are patrons!  All of them except Brent in the Sonics shirt.  He’s the owner.

Here I am with a few of the locals at The Wandering Paisa showing off our green.  Apparently someone didn’t get the message. 😉  Her “hat” will have to do.

Here’s my good buddy Andrew rocking it at the traditional Irish game of beer pong.  He’s loving every moment.  Strange choice of clothing, however, for an Irish holiday.  US rugby jersey?  Almost sacrilegious.  St. Patty would not approve.

Although St. Patrick’s day isn’t traditionally followed here in Colombia, it was a great time at The Wandering Paisa.  I think that this is the one holiday in Colombia that they haven’t fully embraced.  I don’t think, however, that it’ll be long until the government declares it a national holiday.  I mean they have about 17 already, what’s one more?  Thanks all for a great night during St Patrick Day 2012.
