This past week I was invited to Standard Nightclub, Calgary‘s hottest club.
Quite simply, Standard is the most elegant, classy, and beautiful place to mingle in Calgary. It is one part L.A. chic, one part New York flair, and one part London cosmopolitan, which culminates to create the best night club experience in Calgary.
I recently had the pleasure to dine at Divino Wine & Cheese Bistro in the heart of Calgary on a unusually steamy July eve.
On this particular night I was dining with Lauren Webb, Canadian Rocky Mountain Resorts‘ marketing manager, and Jolene Stillinger, a new media marketer and web entrepreneur. Needless to say, having two beautiful and intelligent women as companions for dinner was not a bad way to spend the evening.
The newest edition of Calgary’s Best Restaurants found me visiting Bar C.
Bar C is found on the east side of 17th Ave, right beside my previous entry to this series, Cilantro. It’s easy to find, just look for the massive iron doors which guard it’s chic patio.
Continuing in the series of Calgary’s Best Restaurants, I visited Cilantro on Monday afternoon to talk about the holdings run by Canadian Rocky Mountain Resorts (CRMR.)
Lauren Webb invited me there to talk about the many holdings which they operate, and to discuss where they fall in Calgary’s burgeoning culinary scene.
For a restaurant to last for twenty six years they must be doing something right. Cilantro has a name for consistently high quality within Calgary’s culinary scene. Fads and trends have come and gone, but Cilantro – with one of Alberta’s first wood-fired pizza oven – has weathered every storm.

This week, continuing my tour of Calgary’s Best Restaurants, I visited MARKET on 17th.
MARKET opened its doors on the heart of 17th ave in 2013 to much buzz and accolades. It immediately became a hit, and they have been serving hungry Calgarians nightly for just over a year now.
MARKET was founded on culinary principles, instead of a particular cooking school or style. The culinary principles which the team at MARKET employs are:Read More »
Yellow Door Bistro is housed in Calgary’s coolest hotel: Hotel Arts.
The Hotel Arts Group has a reputation for creating cool in Calgary. Besides the hotel that is their moniker they also run Kensington Riverside Inn, Raw Bar by Duncan Ly, and Chef’s Table – all of which are on the cutting edge of Calgary’s service industry scene.
This particular night, however, was all about Yellow Door Bistro and the Chefs Choice menu that Executive Chef Duncan Ly and Sous Chef Quinn Staplehad prepared for us.
This past week I was invited to continue my trek through Calgary’s best restaurants with a trip to Brava Bistro on 17th Ave.
Before dining with Brava I was invited to meet with Dewey, the smiling face at the helm of Brava’s management. Dewey and I got along well right from the beginning, partially because of our shared passion for great food being shared with great people. He invited me and a friend to dine with his team at Brava to see their philosophy in action.Read More »
Last week I had the honour to be invited to Rouge in the Inglewood neighbourhood here in Calgary.
When it comes to Calgary restaurants, Rouge is known for setting the bar for excellence in consistency and quality.
Does the previous statement sound like a hyperbole? A food writer pouring on the praise a little too thick? Well when a restaurant has been named to the S. Pellegrino World’s 100 Best Restaurants, I think it’s justified.Read More »
This week I start a series on Calgary’s best restaurants.
Wherever I travel to, I love experiencing the local culinary scene. Well, I’m back home, and I want to showcase the amazing and constantly innovate leaders of Calgary’s culinary culture.
River Cafe, one of my favourite restaurants, was the first place to host me on this culinary journey. It would be an understatement to say I was excited to dine with them again.
